Ancient Olympic Games

Every four years, athletes from around the world come together to compete in a variety of sports as part of the Olympics. The Olympics actually have a very long history, beginning in 776 B.C. in Olympia, Greece, as a tribute to the god Zeus.

While some events like sprinting and wrestling have stood the test of time, others like chariot racing and the pankration, have faded into history. Eventually, the Romans banned the Olympics after conquering Greece, but the games were revived in 1896 and have been celebrated ever since.

Today, thousands of athletes from numerous countries compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals in both the summer and winter events. The modern Olympics aim to foster friendly competition, peace, and unity among nations. Let the games begin!
